My father, the pirate

My dad is occasionally a professional actor. He’s done a couple commercials, and some short films, and had a non-speaking role in Ali as a judge for one of the matches. He likes it, and it gets him out and meeting people, which is good, though he’s never landed anything truly big.

On Tuesday, though, he may have had the coolest audition ever - he was one of about 30 men called in to audition for the third Pirates of the Carribbean movie. Yes, my father could be a famous pirate. It gets better - not only is it a speaking role, but the character is the keeper of a storeroom of pirate maps and books and such. Yes, my father could be a famous pirate librarian. How cool is that?!?

Now, these sorts of things come up occasionally, and though he thinks it went well, we both know that it probably won’t happen. What are the chances, right? But, just for a minute, imagining my dad as a pirate librarian is the most awesome thing in the entire world.

Good luck, Dad, I hope I didn’t jinx it!
