The Media Middle Class
The glory days of becoming uncomprehendibly wealthy by producing content are coming to an end. The internet is fostering a large group of writers, DJs, and filmmakers who will live comfortably by entertaining and informing themselves and everyone else. While many are beginning to make media more often, a growing number are going to start earning a living off of it, and they’ll be neither starving artists nor media barons, but comfortably in between. The real opportunities, I think, are in creating the tools and channels that make this media middle class possible.
