HYPERBOLE: epiphany
I haven’t mentioned it much here, but I actually have a show opening this Friday, and I thought it would be an excellent time to, you know, talk about it.
The show is called HYPERBOLE: epiphany, and here’s an example of why this show is different:
What you won’t see:

Yes, those are three of the shining faces you won’t be seeing come opening night, because there are no human faces allowed in the show.
What you will see:

I found this guy waiting for me in my inbox last week. Well, not just that, but a series of thats, which made me extremely happy. I’m not going to tell you what he is, except that he’s a character in one of my pieces, and if you ask Carrie, she’ll tell you his name is Magellan.
I have a few pieces in HYPERBOLE: epiphany, which is a very cool melange of masks, puppets, and music, which opens this weekend at Son of Semele. This is the first time I’ve ever directed with puppets, and the experience of getting out of my head and working with my hands was really quite incredible. Plus I got to tell the kind of stories that, under most circumstances would require a lavish special effects budget, all set to an indie music score with cool tunes from bands like Julian Tulip’s Licorice, The Hungry Ghost, and Andrew Ingkavet, who scored SOSE’s production of The Tower. You can read all about my adventures, see some cool pics of the process, and a video of one of my fellow directors doing lamaze - yes, lamaze! - and purchase tickets at the SOSE website.
