Things I saw at lunch today
The ocean, for the first time since I’ve worked within walking distance of it (2 weeks). It was absolutely gorgeous - sunny and windy, creating really nice waves.
Seagulls playing in the wind. There were a few who really seemed to like flying into the wind, which would cause them to hover in place effortlessly. That made me happy. Then one of them pooped. Way to ruin the moment, seagull.
A family of furry animals (possibly gophers, but what do I know from gophers?) living in the cliffs over PCH. One of them popped up and peered at me for awhile. Later, two of them were fighting, and an adept tackling move almost sent them both tumbling down to the freeway below. But they survived.
A chow puppy, trying to chew through his leash.
The absolutely adorable, smiley-pants barista at Starbucks on the Promenade. When he wrote my name on the cup, it looked an awfully lot like my own signature. I’m not sure what that means, but damned if it isn’t something or other. I’m in love. This is bad. Greater men have fallen from lesser circumstances. I’m likely to over-caffeinate myself into a coma, or over-spend myself into bankruptcy. Many have gone down this path to ruin before me. It’s common urban knowledge that crushing on one’s barista is nothing but trouble.
To that, I say…bring it!
And trouble responds…it’s already been broughten!
