My responses to Adam Greenfield's wall essay:

Doug Aitken’s Sleepwalkers is currently showing at MOMA. He’s using the exterior walls of the museum as display screens, and the audience must travel around the building to see all elements of the piece, with the option of using their cell phones to hear commentary. More Doug Aitken (including interior wall work) on his website.

The Graffiti Research Lab from Eyebeam is doing a lot of great work with electronics and walls. This is an early project, literally painting the circuit for the LED portion of protest graffiti onto a wall. Of course, it includes instructions to roll your own.
